The Christian Cemetery is in a dreadful state of repair when I visited it in 2002, but efforts were being undertaken to preserve it. The Archaeological Survey of India had undertaken some work, but the caretaker of the cemetery (who spoke a lot, but sadly not in English) seemed to appear to say that there was very little support from government sources and what funds were awarded usually did not find its way to the people doing the work.
He was very passionate about it and pleaded that we try and get something done to remedy this when we got back to the UK. |
